Before the first waffle was plated or the first smoothie bowl was poured, Kava DSM began with a vision: to create a space that radiated wellness, creativity, and cultural connection. The challenge was crafting a brand that honored the calming roots of the Pacific Islands while capturing the coastal cool of South Jersey. From the product packaging and food styling to the logo, café interior, and every image on the menu, we worked to build a cohesive and inviting identity that reflected both the grounded nature of kava and the vibrant lifestyle of its modern Des Moines clientele.

Kava DSM set out to create a unique destination that embodied the essence of the Pacific Islands while staying true to the owner’s South Jersey roots. The space needed to evoke a sense of tropical calm while remaining fresh, modern, and inviting to a Midwest market unfamiliar with kava culture. Every detail—from the custom interior palette to the food presentation—had to feel both exotic and approachable, organic yet elevated.

Developed a distinct brand identity rooted in botanical symbolism
